SEA MEMORY
The scientific concept of ‘sea memory’ refers to the persistent stability of environmental conditions at the ocean’s surface, which has scientifically been used to model and predict ocean patterns. However, climate change, has caused this once stable environment to become increasingly unstable, as if the ocean is gradually losing its memory.
In a curious reflection, I associate this with the eyes of fish. As fish grow, their eyes form layers, much like the rings of a tree. These layers accumulate throughout the fish’s life, with the eye lens acting as a record of its past by analyzing these layers. The text on the glass is a combination of scientific texts with additional elements.
